2021 – Breakfast Keynote
BIO: James McQuiggan, CISSP, is a 20 year security veteran and Security Awareness Advocate for KnowBe4. James is also a part time faculty professor at Valencia College in the Engineering, Computer Programming & Technology Division. Within the Central Florida community, he is the President of the Central Florida (ISC)2 Chapter and a Trustee Board member with the Center for Cyber Safety and Education. James has worked as a Product & Solution Security Officer, Information Security analyst and a network security engineer. He consulted and supported various corporate divisions on cybersecurity standards, information security awareness and securing product networks.
Every day, there is the discovery of either a new vulnerability or that an organization has suffered a data breach or, worse, had their operations shut down due to ransomware. Cybersecurity teams have to support the business, educate the users, and monitor the network for suspicious activity within the organizations. These responsibilities are just a shortlist in the proverbial laundry list of duties for the small team trying to reduce the risk of an attack and secure the organization.
With all of these attacks, it’s essential to understand what lies ahead with securing your supply chain and emerging threats. Attack vectors involving ransomware where cybercriminals convince users to do something they wouldn’t normally do and then steal the organization’s data is just one common threat.
In this presentation, James will present the current and emerging threats impacting organizations, why people succumb to phishing emails, and what it takes to increase the security culture among the users.
